ECHO FESTIVAL

I’d had a sneak peak several weeks before the launch, but I wasn’t sure how it would translate, but translate it did. You have to experience it to fully appreciate the wonder of the East Coast Harvest Odyssey…

WELCOME TO COUNTRY

The Welcome to Country at last years ECHO Festival by NITA Education was powerful, gracious and breathtaking. It was, by far, one of the most powerful experiences I’d had in a long time, I am still contemplating the effect it had on me. It’s been nearly a year a words are still failing me.

Tombolo Freycinet

Together, Andrew and Shan are a dynamite team that is Tombolo Freycinet - they make damn fine Pizza, awesome coffee (don’t ever mess with Shan and her coffee) and based at Devils Corner Cellar Door, it’s hard to imagine wanting to eat a Pizza anywhere else in the world.

Freycinet Aqua Taxi

Without thinking, I wandered off into the water, camera in hand, pants getting drenched. I should have protected my gear, I should have taken off my pants, but when the water is this clear, the sand is this white, the sky so blue - nothing else really matters. They’d bought me to paradise.

Craigie Knowe Vineyard

On the surface of it, there is a lot to love about Craigie Knowe. Then you dig a little deeper and find even more. It boasts the oldest vines on the coast, the original vines that were planted by local wine making legend John Austwick in 1979 are still there today, and the vineyard thrives around them.

Bicheno Awesome Beach House

Awesome Beach House was one of my favourite little get-aways to photograph. The location is idyllic, you almost feel as if you are actually sitting on the ocean, it is was so homely and comfortable - and it’s quirky little touches made me smile. I really didn’t want to leave.

Oyster Bay Tours

Oyster Bay Tours is a relatively new business, but it;s been picking up awards left right and centre. Opeerating out of Freycinet Marine Farm, you will not find a more knowledgeable or entertaining person to guide you through the joys of shucking, and eating oysters straight from the sea.

GALA ESTATE

Gala Estate, & the family that has occupied the land for 200 years is as much about love, grace & generosity as it is about wine. While their Pinot will make your tastebuds hum, their story will make your heart sing..

Pete Cornelius Band

Pete Cornelius has been playing music on the coast all of his life. He has a swag of awards, is recognised internationally, is widely regarded as one of Australia’s top guitarists - and is one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet.

Springvale Wines

Springvale Wines is one of those vineyards that you fall in love with as soon as you roll through the gates. The property is steeped in history, and the cellar door, set in an old barn, is half museum and half a showcase of sleek design, oh, and the wines are delectable!

Festival of Voices - Coastal

The official photographer for FOV is Alastair Bett - and he’s damn awesome, but this is my favourite coastal event & I try to go to as many events as I can. The organisers, and Alastair, are gracious enough to let me have full access… cheers to beautiful friends x

Rockpool Bicheno

Every year, the March long weekend sees the Bicheno Lions Park come alive with musicians donating their time to raise money for the Bicheno Lions Club. Funds raised are distributed to worthy local causes,  including the development of the Park Stage for future events.

East Coast Music Love

In almost every regional community, you will find an appreciation of the arts. It’s what we do, how we keep ourselves busy and entertained, and how we connect. Some people love painting, for others, it might be pottery, or photography, or felting - for me - it’s music. I can’t get enough of the music.

All the Romance

Every now and then I get the opportunity capture a particularly special moment. I’m not a traditional romantic, but there something entirely satisfying about an elopement. A non traditional, intimate take on a ceremony that at its core, is really only about two people.

BICHENO FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

A community focused, volunteer driven festival, now into its 13th year. It has quickly become the largest event on the coast. Tickets are limited & sell out within weeks!

Charlie Ellis Architecture

Charlie Ellis is a Launceston based Architect with a passion and flair for perfectly considered design, immaculate joinery and flawless detail. While I had a blast driving the state photographing his work, I’ve returned home wanting to rebuild my house.

Saffire freycinet

Saffire Freycinet is one of the most luxurious resorts in the world. It still takes my breath away every time I walk through the entrance. The professionalism and friendliness of the staff are second to none and every time I visit, I find a new angle, detail, reflection. It is a photographers heaven.

Freycinet Marine Farm

There are photo’s of this iconic oyster farm posted world wide. It’s always daunting to take the camera out into the water - even snugly secured in the front of my waders. But it’s worth it every single time. Do not miss this experience if you are headed to Tasmania’s East Coast.

Cod Rock Point

Cod Rock Point is 3 separate rooms (houses), comparable to the very best that Bicheno has to offer. The location is spectacular, just 20 paces from the ocean. You are close enough to listen to the waves, smell the salty air, and recharge in that wholesome, wholehearted way that only happens when you are by the sea.

Wineglass Bay Cruises

Starting off with just a small, 12 man vessel taking some fishing charters, Duncan and Irene built Wineglass Bay Cruises into a world renowned, signature activity if visiting Tasmania. The business has very recently changed hands, but everything we love about it has stayed exactly the same.

Family

The best photo’s are always, with out fail, the photo’s where the subject has forgotten that there are photo’s being taken. I fail miserably at formal portraits. Every time. But if we can take our time, get to know each other, and take a walk - there is usually some magic to be captured.
